I have confidence in sunshine. I know that in every morning there will be sunlight after a dark night.
There are almost certainly billions upon billions of solar systems in our galaxies, with planets at many different distances from their central star. There may or may not be living in those planets. We will continue to debate the value of the new year in the horizon of "infinite" time-space. However, another year of resolutions, hopes, and dreams are alluring enough to keep us wishing a happy new year on every first date of the month called January.
